CULTURAL HERITAGE
MOVEMENT, THE OCEAN & MEMORIES
FAMILIES' STORIES is a project initially influenced by family immigration movements from Italy to Brazil, as part of the Italian diaspora in the late XIX century. A recreation of Italian families journey to Brazil has informed the visual influence and emotional connection for this project initiated in 2018, titled : Families' Stories.
I looked at visual and cultural elements such as architecture, habits and historical elements found in the visited places in Italy for that research. Three contexts connected with the idea of the movement in such of permanence are suggested in my work : Handbags / Wall bags; Hammocks: and Visuals ‘’ for urban landscape. The body of work was produced either interfering in specific digital processes and with the use of traditional textile techniques.
“Families stories’ collection has led to two new body of works, titled 'NEW STORIES’ and ‘WONDERING”. which I explore my own memories as an immigrant. Cultural heritage theme is still in my interest.
My work have been mentioned and exhibited in various spaces in UK including V&A dundee, house of commons in London and recently, a solo exhibition in Toast store Edinburgh. (For more info please click on the 'ABOUT' button.)
